Our evening here was so, so disappointing. It was our last day in Berlin, and we were running out of cash, so we extensively researched restaurants which accept credit cards (this is surprisingly uncommon in Berlin). We settled upon “One and Only,” and upon arriving to the restaurant, we confirmed that credit cards were accepted via numerous stickers on the front door. However, when we received the bill, we were informed that we could not pay with credit card. Their card terminal was broken. (If we had known this at the beginning, we would have walked away immediately and dined somewhere else. But nobody informed us.) A broken card terminal is surely a frustrating problem -- but it was not our problem. The staff made no effort to fix the card terminal or network malfunction; rather, they told us we must withdraw cash. After a bit of back and forth, we were told we must walk 10 minutes down the road to the nearest ATM (20 minutes walking both ways). My passport was confiscated in the interim. It was a tense and embarrassing situation that the staff handled terribly. Ultimately, we walked the 20 minutes, withdrew €20 from the ATM, and paid an additional €7,64 fee for the pleasure of this transaction. How was the restaurant otherwise? Forgettable. The service was mediocre with the restaurant at roughly 60% capacity. The staff were friendly, but never proactively checked on our table. I had to physically get up several times to get the waiter’s attention (I hate being "that guy," but we would have remained ignored otherwise). The food was mediocre. My wife’s sushi was poorly made and fell apart on the plate. My noodle dish tasted like any fast-food takeaway. Bottom line: If you want sushi or Vietnamese food in Berlin, there are plenty of better choices out there. And if you must go here, bring plenty of cash and set your expectations as low as possible.
